Spaces and facilities

Book reservations 

Customers can reserve books that are in the Learning Centre collection. Customer service will get the book from the shelf. After receiving a notice to pick up the reservation, the customer has to call the customer service to make an appointment for pick-up. Pick-up times are scheduled for Mon – Fri at 10am – 2pm.

To reserve a currently available book, you have to have a valid Aalto University library card. If you do not have a library card, you can order it through the pick-up service. Picking up reserved books 

Customers have a limited possibility to pick up books from the Learning Centre. Temporary pick-up point is located next to the main entrance of the Learning Centre, Otaniementie 9. Reserved books that are already available for pick-up at the Learning Centre will remain reserved until the date mentioned in the pick-up notice.

The customer has to prove their identification with a passport or an identity card when picking up their reserved materials. During the exceptional circumstances, we wish that the customers would only use the pick-up service, if it is absolutely necessary

The pick-up service is managed so that customer and staff will not have any physical contact. Appointments for pick-up will be arranged so that customers will not have any contact with each other, either. Please note that you can come to pick up the books only if you are healthy.


Renewing and returning books, late fees 

Due dates of loans will be postponed until June 23rd, except for the loans that have been reserved by another customer. Reserved books have to be returned. You can check your loans in https://aalto.finna.fi. Loans can be returned anytime to a drop-box that is located on Otaniementie side (next to Robert’s Coffee entrance).

Fees will be charged for loans that are renewed or returned late.


Inter-library loan service and book acquisition 

The inter-library loan service provides article copies from Finland and abroad as well as printed books from Finnish libraries, although there can still be limitations in availability. Print book purchases are being continued and the books are delivered to customers through the Learning Centre pick-up point.


Use of e-resources 

Aalto University students and faculty members can access all licensed materials wherever and whenever by logging in with Aalto username. More information: http://libguides.aalto.fi/e-resources



Electronic theses can be found in Aaltodoc database. Availability of full-texts depends on authors’ permissions. Further information: http://libguides.aalto.fi/theses_dissertations.

Electronic theses, which are not available in open network, can be sent to customers if asked. All requests must be sent to oppimiskeskus@aalto.fi.
